| How
This Poll Was Conducted
This topic was included in the ongoing
Australians Today research program conducted by McNair Ingenuity Research. The
survey was conducted amongst 304 people aged 18+ by telephone between Saturday
15th and Monday 17th December 2001. The 304 Respondents were selected randomly
across Sydney from the electronic white pages. The interviews were conducted by
trained interviewers according to standards set-out by Interviewer Quality Control
Australia. A quality control validation was conducted across 10% of the interviews.
Respondents were asked: It
has recently been proposed that Sydney's electricity power lines be put underground.
It is estimated that this will cost about $80 per year for every household for
the next 30 years. Are you in favour of paying the $80 levy per year and having
the power lines moved underground, or would you prefer to leave them above ground?
